Picture Book Month continues! 

The above answer was given by a fifth grader in response to this question, "What is the value of a shared reading experience?"

  1. Love this, Jennifer! Have your kids tried the Margin Project? It lets them annotate in designated books (marked with a special bookplate) and then pass the book around to their friends/classmates (who add their own notes), so even though they're reading independently, it's still a shared experience. Kids use different colored pens, a symbol, or initials to show which comment belongs to which kid. I have more about it on my website: jenmalonewrites-dot-com, if you're interested:)

    1. Hi Jennifer, thank you reminding me of the Margin Project. We tried it last year, but with limited success. I was hoping to write a grant to get the books to begin a project, which I think would be better for my students. I will keep you posted!
