Wherein Ryan Higgins visits our school, reads his book, and draws some pretty interesting characters.

Ryan Higgins, the author/illustrator of Mother Bruce visited our school last week.

We had a fabulous visit. Have a look and a listen:

The students are in the midst of writing a thank you note:

  1. Morning! I always enjoy reading your blog, and get many great ideas from you. I love that you have a variety of author / illustrator visits throughout the school year, and wanted to know how you fund them all? Thanks for all you do to make your school 🏫 library a great place to learn!

    1. Hi Melissa,

Some of the authors and illustrators come in through a Creative Arts and Sciences Program, which is funded by the PTO. It's a city-wide program. Some I pay for our of my budget. Some I piggy-back with a local bookstore. Some are just last minute visits by people who are in the area and want to squeeze in a school visit!
