and the fifth grade Mock Caldecott choices are...

Here's a peak and our discussion and voting day:

Here's how the fifth graders ranked their seven books:

Hoping to get the students to focus on the criteria and not their emotional attachment to the books, prior to ranking their Mock Caldecott choices, they considered all the books for each of the criteria:





I took that data and plugged it into a grid for each book. These results align with their ranking, with the books getting the most "amazing" votes being the ones that ranked highest in the final votes.

I am looking forward to sharing the "real" Caldecott winners with them in January and being able to draw upon this experience and knowledge in our discussions.
