Mock Caldecott: Lower Grade Evaluation Rubric

I think this is it!

Well, except for the ballots, which I will need to create, but that can wait until January!

Here is the evaluation rubric for my first and second graders (I have just given you an example with one title). They will keep the package in their folders in the library.  On voting day, they will have time to revisit the books and revisit these sheets. I hope this method of evaluating the Mock Caldecott books helps keep the books fresh in their memories.

You are a member of the Mock Caldecott Committee. It is your responsibility to evaluate the books we are reading.  You will be deciding which book you think should win the Caldecott Medal and which books should win a Caldecott Honor.  In order to do this, you must consider the following criteria.

HOLD THE PRESSES!
