On seeing a whole lotta #booklove at the RI Book Festival

I spent Saturday at the Rhode Island Book Festival!
If you are having any doubt about the power of the written word and the importance of holding an object that contains the written word (between two covers), attend this event or any event that brings children's authors and their readers together. That would be readers young and old - there were plenty of teachers and parents at this event as well!

I loved connecting with these authors:

I wasn't able to get pictures with Chris Van Allsburg, Avi, Kimberly Newton Fusco, Laurie Keller, or Bill Harvey.
~~~~~
The authors' 30 minute presentations were geared to their young readers, but enjoyed by all! Here are pictures from a few presentations.
~~~~~
Susannah Richards, associate professor of reading and language arts at Eastern Connecticut State University, led a tour through some of her new favorite books.

 Book-related crafts attracted children and adults alike.

I thought this was a great touch, a table held some of the authors' favorite childhood (or just favorite) books

  1. Welllll, those by my name weren't 'childhood' books -- it's just that I couldn't remember any from childhood . . . duh
